I chose this property to fulfil a dream of having a month’s respite in Rarotonga. This was a year in the planning. There was a wide range of accommodation options however I kept coming back to my original choice of Kaireva Beach House. I was drawn to the picture of it and it being described in detail as an authentic Eco home built by its owners. As a previous Airbnb Super Host I knew the standard that would need to be achieved by the hosts and that experiencing a stay in an Eco home would be ideal for me as I have spent many years teaching Environmental Education and Sustainability. From the first contact I had with Susana I knew I had made the right decision. The communication was prompt with every query answered and requests accommodated. (Susana’s first language is Spanish and we enjoyed chatting!). As I had researched and read the listing thoroughly I was aware of its location and the story behind the house which was that it was built by the owners from timber milled on site from Robert’s family property. The length of time, love and care that has gone into it is obvious and would be appreciated by anyone aware of Artisan buildings. The location is ideal for a couple or adult friends or family with the location close to Muri beach but providing opportunities for exploration and different activities. (Having turtles swim under my kayak and spotting whales from the deck will be unforgettable). Susana and Robert and Robert Junior welcomed me and treated me like family ensuring that I had everything I needed and going out of their way to provide memorable experiences such as sharing family meals, giving me a special birthday (as I was on my own), providing fresh fish at times as well as herbs from the garden to cook with. I felt safe, protected and valued as a guest and the house was a beautiful environment to live in. My month with the family at Kaireva Beach House exceeded my expectations in every way and the bonus has been the friendship that has been forged between our families and the mutual respect, will be remembered and treasured.
